Why am I and why you should be a mediocre cyclist?

Hi, I'm Dan and I'm a mediocre cyclist. And you know what? I'm proud of my mediocrity.

I am the Shimano Deore of cyclists, servicable but nothing fancy nor light.

I'm perfectly secure in the knowledge that I will never be this guy:
Or this guy:

I'm not the fastest guy on a bike.
But I'm not the slowest either.

I don't huck off huge drops.
But I love technical singletrack.

I don't have the time or energy to train for tens of hours a week (plus I like bacon and beer a little too much), nor do I have the willful disregard to throw myself off insane stunts (not that we have them in Leicestershire.) I have a kid and another on the way you know.

What I do is enjoy my riding and push myself to ride as often and for as long as possible as my responsibilities and energy levels allow.
I am perfectly happy being that guy.
